Montserrat

Magic Mountain
The form and outline of this natural feature have made it a unique place, cradle of legends and traditions, and a pilgrimage destination both for those seeking its beauty and those whose cherish the spiritual calm of the monastery and seek sanctuary. In the basilica, you can see the well-known image of the Virgin of Montserrat. We also suggest visiting the museum, which has six permanent collections holding works by great artists including Picasso, Dalí, Degas, Monet, El Greco, Tiepolo and Caravaggio. In the monastery, you can hear the voices of the oldest Boys’ Choir in Europe.
Landscape
Montserrat Mountain is a natural park with marvellous landscapes and offers a wide range of option for outdoor enthusiasts: hiking, climbing of all standards, cable car and cable railway, as well as others.

Directions
Access to the monastery is from Monistrol de Montserrat. Once you have reached the town, you can go up to the monastery by car or in the cop railway. We recommend going by the C-32 which will take you to the mountain in just over an hour.
From Monistrol de Montserrat to the monastery
By car: a mountain road of some 8.5 kilometres (16 minutes), well sign-posted and in good condition with some corners. When you arrive, there is a paid-for open-air car park about 600 metres from the Sanctuary.
By Cog Train: we recommend going this way to have an unforgettable experience with unique views. The journey starts in Monistrol and ends opposite the monastery. The cars have air conditioning and panoramic viewing and are adapted for people with disabilities.
